2020 Corvette C8, does it live to the hype?

It might fall into the same problem of the Supra, too much noise before its release, and the high expectations might kill it. Going mid-rear engine is always an interesting concept, but 490 HP feels strange, like when the first R8 didn't have Audi's most powerful engine. And I'm not really into the looks, I'm not saying it's bad, but it doesn't feel good either, I hated the rear in the teaser shots, I never know I'd hate the front even more... But it could grow on me, like the Speedtail did.

Here's a design analysis that ends up pretty bad:

But hey, for a sportscar (or does it finally qualify as an exotic?) that costs $60K, it is actually quite nice.

    This one's from Autoblog:

This isn't the first time the Crovette comes as a targa option right?

From certain angles it actually looks really sleek.

And the engine cover is pretty nice.

That side vent works really well with all the sharp lines and cuts...

... but I feel like there's too much sharp lines and cuts.

And apparently this has the same trunk space as the McLaren GT, it also fits the golf clubs!

    This looks comfortable...

    ... the buttons don't.

And this is a tan interior I actually like.

    What do you think?

A mid-engined sportscar that hits 60 in under 3 seconds.. for $60 grand?

What else can compete.. a Cayman is $20-30k more, a Alfa 4C is not even close, Z4 maybe.

All the buttons on that weird bar thing in the middle is very odd.. and they should shorten the rear end by like a foot or more.

Honestly way better than the leaked/camo photos led me to believe.

    Good job, GM.

I utterly dislike the way it looks.

It is going to destroy everything on the earth in performance for the price, though, and that's rad.
    Anyhow...

I can see this thing becoming the ultimate redneck car of its time in 10-15 years, destined only to impress trailer park residents. And Europeans.

Looks like it has a nice suspension drop in the press pics compared to what it is on the actual road.
